Overview

Amazing offshore yacht!

Boat was bought as a project, and has been lovingly restored., 99% of all the work is now done, and just waiting for contractors to do the last couple of jobs, (Like finish the canvas etc).

before and after shots of the restoration are available if you would like to see them.

The teak decks are now at the point they should either be replaced or removed and glassed. The owner was looking at sailing to the Philippines this season to get them done, as there is a company in Cebu that would replace them with brand new teak for $8000 NZD and they would also repaint the hull for $2500. This was not part of the project when the current owner took on the boat; so he has not allowed for this. However there are NO leaks what so ever, (So its more cosmetic looking) and as the current owner lives on the yacht, he's often checking during and after any heavy rain. All we can say is that Robert Perry designed a very robust yacht.

She has the standard Tayana layout, with 1/4 berth to starboard, behind the full size nav table. Galley to port with a brand new (never used) stove. Heaps of storage. When the current owner bought the boat, the large fridge/freezer never worked so he has just used this for dry storage (after all, Sid and Helen Roth sailed for decades without a fridge). There are good access points to all the seacocks (they have been replaced) and good access in the floor to the water and fuel tanks, to inspect.

There is a large U shape dinette to port with a ton of storage behind, and some good book shelves. Large seating/berth area to starboard with more storage behind (including books).

There is a separate wine locker to port, and an amazing Dickinson fireplace that makes the boat so warm and toasty you have to open the hatches.

Opposite the fireplace, you have a great wet weather locker with life jacket and safety gear--storage (including the emergency tiller). On the starboard side, opposite the head you have a large hanging locker for shirts and jackets etc, with more storage on top, next to a set of clothing drawers. On the port side you have a pretty decent sized head, with lots of storage, and a self-composting head, and shower (cold). Also note all the squabs now have new covers on them.

Upfront you have a very large vee berth, with storage lockers both port and starboard and more storage (including anchor storage) underneath. Right up front in the place of the anchor locker, it was modified to hold the 6L header tank for the fireplace. So the anchor chain now goes under the mattress.

The Tayana is an exceptional offshore yacht, and the current owner has often sailed her in a decent blow, and she's just taken it all in stride. She is very strong, safe and comfortable.

She has a brand new timber mast and boom with new offshore rigging.

Current owner bought the boat with a seized engine, and has now replaced it with a brand new 30hp Yanmar. As a result the boat is about 500kg (weight between old and new engine) lighter and sails so much better having less weight. ** As current owner lives on the boat and uses her a lot the engine hours may differ at time of sale) **

She is sail-ready for the islands this season, so get yourself a great offshore ready yacht and go and live your Pacific Island dreams.

Current owner is only selling as he bought her as a project and now has bought the next project yacht, and keen to pass this beauty on to someone who will sail her to her full potential.

Current owner is very happy to work with the new owner to finish off the last small jobs (if they wish) to complete the project.... Or the buyer is able to buy the boat as is. She is very sail ready to take you away now to the islands.

Why not grab yourself an offshore ready boat, and sail off with the other cruisers in May and explore the Pacific islands and all they have to offer?

** Please note: ALL personal items seen in the photos do NOT go with the boat at time of sale**

* For overseas buyers current owner is happy to deliver the yacht to any of the Pacific island destinations (At buyers expense) if you are unable to fly direct to NZ, current owner is also happy to arrange anything to get the boat up to spec for the new buyer to meet their needs.

Current owner is working on getting the rest of the canvas completed in the next few weeks.
